Hire the Instructor, not the
Students...
Nancy Marshall is an Instructor with the prestigious Property
Management Academy located in Orlando, Florida. The courses are
held throughout the state of Florida and once the series of
courses are completed Property Managers attain the Professional
Residential Manager designation.
Nancy attends conferences to improve her skills and learn the
latest techniques. She found the best way to really learn the
material and implement the same in her business was to begin
teaching. Teaching forces me to sit down and think about the
material being presented and in that process I find myself
asking, “How can this benefit my Owners or Tenants?”
I have implemented many things I have taught and also find
myself learning a great deal in the back and forth exchanges
that I have with the students. They are also teaching the
teacher. My first priority is my business and teaching is
secondary to that. I typically teach no more than once a month
for a day, just enough to keep me fresh and current on what is
going on in our business. Sometimes it is good to do things
different, get a fresh perspective and then start again.....a
bit fresher. Teaching also provides a way to give back to the
business that has been good to me. If I can educate a Manager
and improve their companies or businesses then I feel I am doing
a service not only to them but also to their Owners and Tenants
by
improving the overall service standards we provide to
them.....it always feels good to share what you know.
Just some of the comments from her
students end of course surveys from one of her recent courses:
